New Beginnings

It’s been a year and a half since I started blogging here about my involvement with iThemba, my opinions on short-term missions and community development, and stories of hope from Sweetwaters community. And that will continue. Kind of.

If you were wondering here’s a summary of my top 5 most popular posts:

My Madiba StoryI’m Proud of YouThe State of Western Missions, Talking Donkeys and a VideoFather Together

One of my favorites that this list doesn’t include was the one on listening.

This year, I’m taking a step back from some of my work at iThemba in order to work on my masters in sociology (hopefully. If the paperwork is finalized). I’ll still be doing communications at iThemba, but I won’t be doing as much work with overseas teams, or planning events like kids camp. I’ll still blog. But I thought I’d give you a heads up:

  • iThemba stories might still appear on this blog, but more than likely I’ll be sending you over to iThemba’s official blog to read the full stories. Read them. It will inspire you and encourage you to pray and connect you to the awesome things God is doing in South Africa. (And if you want more iThemba news, there’s always our Facebook, twitter (@iThembaProjects) and pinterest accounts which will keep me pretty busy, too.)
  • If you still like to hear me give opinions about race, culture, identity, social justice, short-term missions and community development… you’ll still get a lot of those. My masters relates to whiteness and identity, so I have a feeling that’s the way this blog will end up leaning. 🙂 Maybe throw in some criticism about churches. You know. That kind of thing.

Thanks for following, and I hope you stick with me as this blog changes slant!
